Frequently Asked Questions
For anything not covered here, our team is ready to provide clarity and guidance.
What is Previve?
Previve is a fully virtual cancer prevention, early detection, and surveillance program designed to help you better understand your cancer risk and stay proactive about your health. We support individuals who want to reduce their future cancer risk, detect cancer as early as possible, and those with a previous cancer diagnosis who want ongoing surveillance and guidance to help stay ahead of recurrence. Our goal is simple: know your risk, reduce your risk, detect cancer early, and stay ahead.
Who is Previve for?
Previve is designed for proactive individuals who want the most comprehensive, physician-led early-detection strategy available. Many members have a family history of cancer, known genetic risk, or simply a desire to take control of their long-term health.
Is Previve fully virtual?
Yes. Previve is a fully virtual program. Enrollment, questionnaires, medical record review, clinical evaluations, consultations, surveillance planning, and communication with the Previve team are completed remotely. When your personalized plan calls for imaging, laboratory testing, procedures, or other services that must be completed in person, those services are performed through outside healthcare providers or facilities.
Does Previve replace my primary care doctor or oncologist?
No. Previve works alongside your existing physicians. We focus exclusively on cancer risk assessment, early detection, and informed guidance. You receive a clear summary of findings and recommendations that can be shared with your care team.
How is this different from a physical or executive health checkup?
Traditional checkups screen for heart disease, metabolic health, and general wellness. Previve focuses specifically on cancer, integrating hereditary genetics, advanced biological testing, and risk-based recommendations for imaging and procedures.
What genetic testing does Previve use, and is it included in my membership?
Previve currently uses the Myriad MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test as part of our genetic risk assessment when clinically appropriate. MyRisk evaluates 63 genes associated with 11 common hereditary cancer types, including breast, ovarian, colorectal, uterine, pancreatic, prostate, gastric, kidney, lung, skin, and endocrine cancers.
Genetic testing is included as part of your Previve program. Myriad Genetics, the independent laboratory that performs the test, may contact you directly to request your health insurance information and determine whether your insurance covers the testing — please provide your current insurance information when asked. Previve does not bill insurance for its own services, but Myriad handles insurance processing for the genetic test separately.
If you receive a bill or payment request about your MyRisk testing, please don't disregard it — forward it to the Previve team so we can help determine next steps.
You can learn more about the Myriad MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test here (https://myriad.com/myrisk-test-hereditary-cancer/).
What other types of tests will I receive?
Your testing plan is personalized, but may include: multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood testing, prostate biomarkers (PSA and derivatives), stool DNA testing for colorectal cancer, and risk-based recommendations for imaging and procedures.
What happens if Previve identifies something concerning?
If your Previve team identifies a finding or risk that requires additional evaluation, we will explain the concern and recommend appropriate next steps. This may include additional screening, imaging, laboratory testing, closer surveillance, or evaluation by the appropriate physician or specialist. You will meet with your Previve physician to understand what the finding means, and for Previve Defense members, Previve coordinates referrals to trusted specialists.
Is imaging included with membership?
Previve Intelligence members receive risk-based recommendations for imaging and procedures. Previve Defense members receive a Second-opinion Imaging Review, an expert's fresh look at their breast imaging, along with coordination of recommended imaging (MRI, CT, endoscopy when appropriate) and assistance navigating referrals to trusted specialists.
Does Previve accept insurance?
No. Previve does not accept or bill any health insurance plans. Previve is not in-network or out-of-network with any insurance carrier, and we do not submit insurance claims, provide insurance billing, or complete insurance paperwork for reimbursement.
The one exception is genetic testing — our lab partner, Myriad Genetics, handles insurance processing for the MyRisk test separately (see the genetic testing question above). Members are responsible for confirming coverage with their insurer for any other tests or procedures performed outside Previve.
Can I pay with my HSA or FSA card?
Yes. Previve accepts HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards at checkout, just like any other credit or debit card.
Whether a purchase qualifies is determined by your plan, so check with your plan administrator if you’re unsure. If your administrator asks for documentation, you’ll find a receipt for every payment in your member portal under Membership → View receipts.
Can I continue with Previve year after year?
Yes. Early detection is most effective when practiced over time. Your risk — and the science — evolves, so your testing strategy will be recalibrated annually to reflect the most current evidence.
Is Previve available in my state?
Previve is expanding nationally. Availability may vary based on state regulations and specialist network coverage. Please submit a request to confirm eligibility in your location.
